Listening Comprehension Practice – Everyday Conversations
Below is an everyday conversation divided into 3 sections. After each section are questions – play the questions, then choose the best answer.
Tests that have Listening Comprehension questions:
1.
a. Because she likes hockey
b. Because her cousin is playing
c. She goes to every game
d. None of the above
2.
a. The street sign for Fort street.
b. The bus sign for the number 715
c. The address sign of her cousins house
d. None of the above
3.
a. She was going to the party at her home
b. She was going home
c. She was going to her cousin’s house for a party
d. None of the above
Answer Key
1. B
She is going to the game because her cousin is playing.
2. C
On the way back, the driver tells her to look for the bus sign for the number 715.
3. C
After the game, she was going to her cousin’s house for a party.
Tips for Answering Listening Comprehension Question on a Test
Focus Focus on the main ideas, supporting details, tone, and especially the context. The setting, situation, and the speaker’s relationships gives clues for answering. By understand the context and a few details you can understand enough to answer. You may not need to understand 100%.
Predict: When listening to the audio, try to predict questions and answers that may be asked.
Signal Words: Words like “however,” “but,” “therefore,” etc., generally indicate shifts in ideas or important points.
Eliminate: Elimination is the best multiple choice strategy. Learn more about answering multiple choice questions strategically
Review Answers: Good advice for any type of question.
Practice: Regular practice is the best test prep strategy!

Are you sure answer 2 is correct? It should be B ‘The bus sign for the number 715’ and not C. Also missed the options for question 4
For sure I also thought of B to be the best alternative answer for question 2.
