What’s on the GCT2 Test
Canada Post uses GCT2 as of January 2023.
The GCT Level 2 test includes:
- Reasoning and Analytical Thinking – number and letter series, matching
- Spatial Relations
- Vocabulary and Word Meaning – synonyms and Antonyms
- Numerical Word Problems

Reasoning and Analytical Thinking
Includes:
- Matching
- Sequences & Series
- Analogies
Why Reasoning and analytical Thinking are Important
Critical thinking skills. Analytical reasoning questions test your ability to analyze information, identify key elements, and draw conclusions.
Problem-solving. Entrance tests are designed to test your problem-solving skills – this includes, your ability to approach problems systematically, apply reasoning, and find effective solutions.
Data analysis. Many jobs in different industries require you to possess strong analytical skills for analyzing data. Entrance tests use these questions to test your skill and aptitude for data analysis and problem-solving.
Logical thinking. Questions are designed to test your ability to think logically and make deductions based on information you are given. Logical reasoning skills are highly valued in many jobs.
Time management and Working under Pressure. The ability to stay calm under pressure is a great skill to have and valued by many employers. Entrance tests almost always have time limits. The word knowledge is considered part of the analytical and reasoning sections. Includes:
- Synonyms
- Antonyms
Why Vocabulary is Important
Overall Language Ability. A strong vocabulary is an indication of your overall command of the English language and intellectual capabilities, which are important qualities for many positions.
Synonyms, and Antonyms. Synonym (words with similar meanings) and antonym (words with opposite meanings) questions test your ability to recognize word relationships and make connections based on similarities or contrasts.
Numerical Problems
Why Word Problems are Important
Comprehensive understanding. Word problems require you to read, comprehend, and analyze written information. You must extract relevant details, identify the mathematical operations needed, and make a strategy to solve. The GCT uses word problems to evaluate your ability to think critically and apply mathematical principles in different situations.
Numerical Problems Practice
Address Sorting (optional – Canada Post)
The address sorting tests your ability to organize addresses alphabetically. Address sorting incorporates several parameters such as sorting according to names, locations, or intended destinations as well as the order mail is to be deposited into various addresses or dropped at various locations.
This section includes the ability to use search criteria such as name, city, state, ZIP code, street address among other parameters.
GCT2 Practice Test – Course and Practice
